Wilson – L. C. Loving, age 77, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in Ardmore, OK. Celebration services will be held 2:00 P. M., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Ash Street Church of Christ of Wilson with Dr. Virgil Trout and Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory of Wilson.
L. C. was born October 16, 1934 in Pike, OK to Clarence Loving and Emma (McMillan) Loving and was raised in Wilson, OK. L. C. was a long time member of Ash Street Church of Christ. He worked in the oil fields as a roughneck, driller and toolpusher prior to starting Loving Well Service in Dillard in the early 1970’s. He later became a company man for DEPCO Exploration until retirement in 1995. After retirement, L. C. raised Black Baldie cattle at his home in Wilson. L. C. loved Wilson, Oklahoma with all of his heart.
He served on the Wilson School Board, Wilson City Council and was instrumental in starting OK Kids Youth Baseball in Wilson in 1967. He along with several other Wilson residents built the baseball stadium in Wilson. L. C. coached baseball in Wilson from 1967-1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Elmer and Sister-in-law Phyllis, Brothers –in-law Bobby Claxton, Bill Cornish, Clifford, Raymond, Hershel, Verla and Dwayne Tolbert, Sister-in-law Pat McGowan and In-laws Marvin and Jessie Tolbert.
He is survived by his wife Colene (Tolbert) Loving of the home in Wilson. One Daughter and Son-in-law Elaine and Barry Teel (Wilson, OK), two sons and daughters-in-law Stan and Debbie Loving (Norman, OK), and Chuck and Cheryl Loving (Prosper, TX). Six Grandchildren Jesse and Tim Presley, Jeremy Teel, Jacqueline, Jordan, Jaxon and Josie Loving. Two step grandsons, Chad and Devon Wood. Two great grandchildren Gabe and Emily Presley. One brother E. L. and Barbara Loving, and sisters Laverne Cornish, Anna Mae and Dale Poirot, and Barbara Elliott. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones of all ages.
Pallbearers will be Barry and Jeremy Teel, Tim Presley, and Stan, Chuck and Jaxon Loving.
Honorary Pallbearers will be former baseball players coached by L. C.
Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson, 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. Tuesday Evening.
