Kris got the biggest thrill when racing and working on cars. He raced in many circuit and NHRA events in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was known for his love of speed and his ability to fix anything. Fixing up old cars and trucks was his passion, most recently completing a rebuild of a 1957 Chevrolet.

Kris married the love of his life, Jennette Lawrence Hays, on May 9, 1980, and they lived in Velma all 40 years they spent together. They shared a love for cars, basketball, traveling and time spent with family and friends. They were the happiest when supporting any event their grandchildren participated in.

Kris was a member of The Velma Baptist Church, and he shared his love for cars with others as a member of The Duncan Antique Car Club.

Kris was preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle Bud Brickel.
