Kenneth L. Overby

Wilson- Funeral Services for Mr. Kenneth L. Overby, 81, longtime resident of Wilson, are scheduled for 11:00 am Monday February 15, 2010 at the Ash Street Church of Christ with Virgil Trout and Larry Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Kenneth was born September 29, 1928 at Dillard to the late Mr. George H. Overby and Mrs. Gracie Carrie Lee (Wells) Overby. He departed this life Thursday, February 11, 2010 at his home in Wilson.

Kenneth was raised in Dillard attending school at Ambrose Ward and later graduated from Wilson High School in 1947. He married the former Ms. Ollie Oleta Segroves June 11, 1950 at Dillard. Shortly afterwards Kenneth was drafted into the United States Army serving honorably for 21 months while stationed in Germany as part of the infantry division. He returned to this area and began working for The Daube Company. There, he held many positions and retired after 39 years of employment as a pumper. In his Younger years Kenneth enjoyed fishing and was always a big fan of Dallas Cowboy Football. He enjoyed watching John Wayne Westerns and always enjoyed mowing his yard. Kenneth was a longtime member of the Ash Street Church of Christ.

Kenneth and Ollie were married for 59 years and 8 months to the day of his passing and would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on June 11.

Preceding him in death is his Parents, Mr. George H. and Mrs. Gracie Carrie Overby, Son Kenny Overby, Jr. – 1963, infant sister, Adell Overby, sister, Dorsey Sullivan, infant brother, Henry Overby, and brothers, Raymond and George “Dock” Overby, and a great granddaughter Zoey Overby. Also a very special niece they helped raise and was more like a daughter than a niece, Dortha Roberts.

Survivors include his loving wife Ollie of the home, 2 daughters, Diana Billings and husband Dennis of Tuttle, Ok, and Tammy Price of Cypress, TX. Son Bill Overby and wife Kalinda of Gilmer, TX. 2 Sisters, Barbara Brown of West Covina, CA, and Betty Shaffer of Corona, CA. Brother, A.C. Overby and wife Dean of Wilson. 8 Grandchildren, Brian Price and wife Maritza, Stephanie Christian and husband Ricky, Jessica Littlejohn and husband Tommy, Amanda Billings, Mandy Overby, Jeremy Overby, CeJae Cunningham and Hadley Overby. Great Grandchildren, Madison Christian, Taylor Christian, Adriana Price, and Olivia Christian. Numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers Larry Roberts, Jason Roberts, Ronnie Roberts, Doug Epley, Darrin Epley and R.D. Powell.

Honorary Bearers L.C. Loving, Bennie Cartwright, and Terry Gentry.

Donations are asked to be sent to Cross Timbers Hospice/207 C St. Ardmore, OK 73401.

Family visitation will be from 4 to 5pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home in Wilson.
