Kenneth J. Longest

July 21, 1939 — November 11, 2013

Ringling – Funeral Services for Mr. Kenneth J. Longest, 74, of Courtney are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at the Ringling Church of Christ with Gary Labeth and Virgil Trout officiating. Interment will follow at the Petersburg Cemetery south of Ringling. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Kenneth entered into this life July 21, 1939 at Petersburg to the late Mr. C.J. Longest and Mrs. Gladys Bell (Kennedy) Longest. He departed from this life Monday morning Nov. 11, 2013 at the Wilson Nursing Home.

Kenneth was raised at Petersburg attending school there and graduated High School at Courtney. He was a member of the last graduating class of Courtney. He initially attended college at Oklahoma State University, but later moved to Southeastern Oklahoma State University of Durant. There he met the former Ms. Brenda Kay Ladd and they soon became united in marriage on June 12, 1959 at Colbert with Rev. J.B. Lovelace presiding. Kenneth achieved his Masters Degree of Education and was a longtime educator of this area. He taught at Zaneis and Ringling and served as the Elementary School Principal of Wilson Public Schools for many years. He retired as Principal in 1991, but returned for a few more years as a Counselor. He enjoyed farming and Ranching on the family farm in Courtney. Kenneth served on the Ringling Volunteer Fire Dept for 20 years and was a devoted song leader at the Ringling Church of Christ for many years.

Preceding him in death are his Parents and Grandparents.

Survivors include his loving wife Brenda of the home; Children, Donny Longest and wife Karen of Shawnee, Robin Longest and wife Vernonda of Ringling, Kim Longest and wife Stacey of Duncan and Kenda Capps and husband James of Atoka; 12 Grandchildren, Catherine, Heath, Derek, Kyndal, Rhett, Jordan, Corey, Caleb, Clay, Keith, Kimberly and Kaylee; 7 Great Grandchildren, Connor, Rylee, Khloe, Bradley, Brooke, Jackson and Mason. Numerous other family and friends

Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Keith Capps, Heath Longest, Derek Longest, Corey Longest, Caleb Longest, Clay Longest and Rhett Longest.

Honorary Bearers are Jack Wilson, Roy Provence and Steve Longest.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday Evening Nov. 13, 2013 at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, Cross Timbers Hospice 207 C Street NW Ardmore, OK 73401 or the Petersburg Cemetery fund at the 1st National Bank of Ringling.
