Oil City - Services for Kenneth Gene McKee, 88, of Oil City are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday August 20, 2018 at the Oil City Union Church with Rev. Paul Dean Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Oil Springs Cemetery with military honors provided by the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard Team.
Kenneth was born April 13, 1930 at Healdton to the late Mr. G.W. "Joe" McKee and Mrs. Lucille Evaline (Ramsey) McKee. He departed this life Thursday Aug 16, 2018 at Ardmore.
Kenneth was raised at Ragtown, Pernell, Brownstown, ILL and finally Wilson graduating from Wilson High School in 1949. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 21 during the Korean War. At the time of his enlistment he was employed for Fox Well Servicing. During his Naval service, Kenneth was assigned the task of being an engine man and served honorably for 3 years on the USS Windham. Following his honorable discharge he returned to this area and met Hazel Pender who was working at Johnson Drug Store in Healdton. They instantly fell in love and were united in marriage on May 13, 1955.
They made their home at Oil City in 1958 and have resided there since. Kenneth always worked within the Oil Patch and farmed to make a living. He loved playing Bluegrass music and was always a man who was honest, always meaning what he said. Kenneth was a member of the Oil City Union Church ever since they moved to that area.
Preceding him in death was his Parents; siblings, Opal Gaston, Jack McKee, Richard McKee and Jerry McKee.
Survivors include his loving wife Hazel; daughter, Brenda Davis of Beaumont, TX; son, Mike McKee and wife Lisa of Oil City; grandson, Joe McKee of Oil City and Dustin Davis of Vidor, TX; numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Joe McKee, Dustin Davis, Derrek Airington, Tony Lawson, Bozo Schoonover and Ronald Mefford.
Honorary Bearers are Mike Puckett, Rick Pender and Cooter Pender.
Family visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Sunday afternoon at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
