Kathleen Wood (Grundy)

Healdton - Home Going graveside services for Mrs. Kathleen (Grundy) Wood, 94, of Healdton are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Mount Olive Cemetery of Healdton with Dr. Bob Cloyde officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton - 65 Golf Course St.

Kathleen was born on October 17, 1924 to the late Mr. Arthur Grundy and Mrs. Faye (Fagen) Grundy. She departed this life Monday afternoon, July 29, 2019 at Ardmore.

Kathleen was initially raised within the Waurika area until she graduated from the eighth grade there. At this time her family owned pharmacies in both Waurika and Healdton, thus moving her to Healdton during her high school years. She graduated from Healdton High School in 1942 and then attended college at Oklahoma Baptist University for two years.

Kathleen married Mr. Wayne Wood on Sept. 8, 1944 at the First Baptist Church of Waurika and they soon made their home in Healdton. Being lifelong residents of Healdton, they owned and operated Wayne Wood Insurance Agency since 1946. Wayne Wood Agency of Healdton is still in operation under the management of their two sons, Dale and Mark.

Kathleen always enjoyed being active in church and being a mother and housewife. She played the piano for many worship services and funerals through the years and also enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a very active member of the Eastern Star and was always proud to be a Healdton Bulldog.

Her parents, Arthur and Faye Grundy and husband Wayne, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her two sons, Dale Wood of Healdton and Mark Wood of Criner Hills; granddaughter, Cortney Wood of Ardmore and great grandchildren, Kauri and Aiden Roberson; numerous other family and friends.

Casket bearers are the friends of the family.

Honorary bearers are fellow friends and co-residents and the Staff of the Wilson Nursing Home.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wed. evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton, 65 Golf Course St.
