Jurlie was born June 15, 1927 at Healdton to the late Mr. Robert L. O’Dell and Mrs. Sudie Ada (Morgan) O’Dell. She departed this life Friday, January 3, 2014 at her home north of Healdton.
Jurlie was raised at her current home place and attended school at Rock Springs. She married Mr. Joe Lewis Stewart on September 5, 1942 at Healdton. She resided practically her entire life north of Healdton. She and Joe lived in Lindsay, Ok for 2 years before returning to work Jurlie's family farm during the war. She wore the title of housewife proudly. She and Joe raised their 5 children on the farm and taught them good ol' fashioned values. It was no secret that she was a great cook. She was always one of the first to bring a meal to anyone in need of comfort. After her children were mostly grown Jurlie took her only "paying" job as an Avon lady. She was a friend to many women on her route, looking forward to a cup of coffee and a visit with ladies that shared her lifestyle. She was a gifted seamstress and great steward for their household. After retirement she and Joe did their best to decrease the catfish population in Lake Murray.
Recently, her fishing trips were much closer to home, going to her sons Robert and Harley's farm ponds. She didn't miss a televised Sooners or Dallas Cowboy ball game. She was always a fan, and a bigger fan in a winning season. She loved the Lord and fashioned her life from his teachings. She treasured her family, and nothing brought a smile quicker than her great grand children. She will be sorely missed by, Joe, her husband and best friend of 71 years as well ,her family that loved her immensely.
