Ringling- Services for Judith (Lockwood) Wade, 77, of Byers, TX, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 26, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Ringling with Mike Priddy and Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home at Ringling.

Judy Wade was born Judith Lockwood October 18, 1944. She was the youngest child of C.G. (Dock) and Lois (Hicks) Lockwood. She had an older sister Peggy and an older brother Sherle. Judy departed this life Sunday, August 21, 2022, in Byers, TX.

She attended school at Ringling all twelve years, graduating as co-valedictorian in 1962. She immediately enrolled in what was then Southeastern State College and graduated with honors in 1965 with a B.A. in Education with a minor in English and a minor in Speech.
Judy married Arvie "Corky" Wade on July 23, 1965, at Ringling First Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Byers, Texas, where she began her teaching career at Byers School in August. They were joined by the light of their lives, daughter, Deana Lynn on June 20, 1968.
Over the years she taught a variety of subjects including junior high reading and language arts, Texas history and speech, high school journalism, theater arts, English I, II, III, and IV. After serving as principal for six years she retired around the year 2001. She returned to a half time position immediately, teaching English II, III, and IV for the next 11 years for a total of 47 years at Byers School.
Deana said she only gave birth to one but had raised 100's of kids. Judy became one of the first staff writers for North Texas Farm and Ranch Magazine and later became the copy editor, a position she later held with Oklahoma Farm and Ranch Magazine. She loved to read and watch Corky team roping. They traveled many miles to his rodeos and jackpots and made many lifelong friendships.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Otto and Allene Wade, sister Peggy Chamberlain and her brother in-law Leon Chamberlain, nephews Jeff Lockwood and Cody Wade, brothers in-law Bill Wade and Charles Wade.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Corky, daughter Deana and husband Tom Roberts of Byers, TX, brother Sherle Lockwood of Ringling; brother in-law Sherrell Wade and wife Dean of Byers, TX, sister in-law Lana Wade of Ringling, numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Murray Don Dawson, Joe Davidson, Guy Dillon, Ken Jones, Weldon Craig, Bo Crabtree, Jim Parker, and Murl Nelms.

Honorary bearer is Bob Earl Stewart.

Family visitation will be held Thursday evening, from 6-8 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling.
