Wilson –Graveside inurnment services for Mrs. Joyce Jean (Clark) Culbreth, 84,of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, OK with Thomas Thompson officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Homes and Crematory in Wilson.
Joyce Jean Culbreth was born on August 28, 1933 in Wilson, OK to the late Mr. Norman and Irene (Lee) Clark. She departed this life on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Wilson Nursing Center in Wilson, OK.
Joyce spent her formative years in Wilson, attending school there through her senior year. She was known for her sweet disposition and her beautiful singing voice. Joyce married King Culbreth, also from Wilson, on December 17, 1950. To this union, three children were born.
Mrs. Culbreth and her family moved quite frequently and finally settled down in Snyder, OK. It was during this time Joyce served as a “preachers wife”. She also worked for the Social Security Administration in Port Arthur, TX and retired from civil service at Ft. Sill in Lawton, OK. After retirement Joyce moved to Duncan then back to Wilson in 2005.
Joyce was an avid reader, loved to watch TV and enjoyed her family gatherings.
Preceding her are in death are her parents, Norman and Irene Clark; husband, King Culbreth; sister, Nancy Ann Clark; and a son, David Culbreth.
She is survived her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle “Shelly” and Lynn Lowery of Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Susan Culbreth of Alexandria, VA; brothers, Stan Clark and wife Linda of Toms River, NJ, James Clark and wife Sue of Ardmore, Norman “Butch” Clark and wife Kathy of Pensacola, FL; sister, Mary Ann (Clark) Steele and husband Charles of Lone Grove; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lowery) Throneberry and husband Michael of Lone Grove, Amanda (Lowery) Howard and Billy Lowe of Ardmore, Jack Lowery of Wilson, Jake Culbreth of Los Angeles, CA, Jocelyn (Culbreth) Longo and husband Josh of Pensacola, FL, Cristal (Culbreth) Speed and husband Luke of Lawton; great grandchildren, Paige, Savannah, and Matthew Throneberry, Dylan, Olivia, and Chelsea Howard, Ethan Lowery, Julia Jimenez, Anthony, and Josh Longo, Kaylee Speed, and Kaitlyn Culbreth; Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
