Ringling- Funeral Services for Mrs. Joy Sue Tanner, 75 of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday September 22, 2009 at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Jimmy Morris officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
Mrs. Tanner was born July 9, 1934 in Ringling, OK to the late Mr. Earnest E. and Mrs. Mary Ann (Martin) Choate. She departed this life Friday September 18, 2009 at Ringling.
Mrs. Tanner was raised in Ringling attending school at Union Hill and Ringling. As a young lady she soon became a devoted mother and homemaker raising her four children mostly here in Ringling. She married the late Mr. Carl Tanner May 18, 1971. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on May 9, 2003. Carl was employed internationally in the Oil Field, and Joy abided with him to many places overseas such as Malta, Africa residing there while he worked. She always enjoyed fishing and being outdoors and she loved to cook large family meals, and provided excellent crochet work for all of her family. She devotionally watched gospel television every day she was able and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband Carl, also preceding her in death is her Parents and daughter, Glena Powell, April 29, 1975.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diane Gaston and husband Don of Ringling, and Sandi Baker of Healdton. Son, Billy Powell of Vian, OK. Brothers, Bob Choate and wife Pat of Ringling, and Billy Choate of John Day, OR. Sisters, Ruth Keeton, of Lone Grove, Betty Pemberton and husband Barry, and Lorene Pemberton and Lewis Dover all of Ringling. 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Dunn, Donnie Gaston, Mickey Dewbre, Derek Dewbre, Terry Dale Morris, Bill Black and Barry Pemberton.
Viewing and visitation will be accessible Monday and Tuesday until time of service at Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
