Josephine "Josie" Powell (Ramon)

Josephine “Josie” (Ramon) Powell, of Wilson, departed this life in St. Francis Hospital of Tulsa on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 18 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Josie was born in Rotan, TX to the late Mr. Manuel Ramon and Mrs. Rafaela (Barrera) Ramon on December 23, 1952.

Her family moved to Leon in 1966. She graduated with the Turner High School Class of 1973. Josie enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales, and word search puzzles. She was an avid Texas Longhorn fan and enjoyed watching sports. Josie was an excellent cook and never met a stranger and would talk to anyone no matter where she was at. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Josie was employed at Michelin Tire Company for 25 years. She previously attended Cheek Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Rafaela Ramon.

Josie is survived by her husband, Gary Powell of the home; sons, Terry Ramon and wife Michelle of Windsor, CO, James Powell and wife Christina of Wilson; grandchildren, Tara Kate Ramon, Gage Ramon, Kade Ramon, Kameron Fenster, Rahnessa Powell, Bailey Powell, and Austin Powell; 3 brothers, Arnie Ramon and wife Georgia of Ringling, Adolfo Ramon and wife Debbie of Burneyville, Carlos Ramon and wife Barbara of Lone Grove; sister, Elsa Reece and Jeffrey of Greenville; Garys children that she helped raise, Danny Ray Powell and his children Caleb Ray Powell, Morgan David Price Powell, and Tyler Russell Powell; step daughter Kathrin Ann Powell and her daughter, Amelia (Millie) Claxton; Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Steven Reece, Terry Ramon, James Powell, Johnny Bedell, Erik Ramon, and Dillon Vernon.

Honorary bearers will be her brothers, Arnie Ramon, Adolfo Ramon and Carlos Ramon.

Visitation will be held 6-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
