Johnnie Edgar Rubrecht

January 28, 1959 — January 23, 2025

Velma

Velma – Funeral services for Johnnie "Bones" Edgar Rubrecht, 65, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Velma. The service will be officiated by Rev. Mike Johnston, with assistance from Rev. Kerry Glasgow. Interment will follow at Claud Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

Johnnie was born on January 28, 1959, in Calgary Alberta, Canada, to Edgar Rubrecht and Mary Lee MaGaha. He passed away on January 23, 2025, in Ratliff City, Oklahoma. Raised in the Loco area, Johnnie also spent part of his childhood living in Spain and Singapore from 1974 to 1976, before returning to graduate from Velma High School in 1977.

On July 2, 1982, he married Melisa Dawn Wright in Velma, Oklahoma. Johnnie began his career working on the Phil Lowery Ranch during high school and later held various positions in the oilfield, where he gained extensive knowledge in operating workover rigs and downhole oil tools. He eventually joined Halliburton, where he managed their tool shop before taking early retirement. Following his retirement, Johnnie worked at Rifle Oil Tools and, along with Melisa, purchased Velma Flowers and Gifts, which she managed until 2019. His expertise in oilfield operations made him a valuable resource for fellow businessmen seeking insight.

In his leisure time, Johnnie enjoyed fishing at Waurika and Duncan Lakes, cultivating a vegetable garden, and proudly supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events. He also enjoyed sitting outside with his dog, Penny watching his chickens and cooking Sunday dinner for the family.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sharon Pratt and Carolyn Morris. He is survived by his devoted wife, Melisa, along with their children: Shawnda Folsom and fiancé Josh Eastwood of Velma; Dillon Rubrecht and fiancé Allison Mahoney of Duncan; Kory Rubrecht and girlfriend Allie Jackson of Velma; and MacKenna Rubrecht, also of the home. He cherished his seven grandchildren: Kensley, Lillie, and Maddie J. Folsom; Cooper Smith; and Miller Rubrecht. Additional survivors include his sister, Barbara Haller of Loco, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Green, Danny Briscoe, Jerry Lockwood, Darrell Chapman, Danny Martin, and Jared Hatton. Honorary bearers are Bill Stephens, Larry Anderson, Gary Webb, Doyne Wofford, Butch Hodges, Creede Howard, Tommy Needham, Johnny Watkins, Dale Goodrich, Randy Freeman, and Bill Hamilton.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
