Memorial services for John Cox, 71, of Kingston, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Cumberland Baptist Church, Cumberland Cove, Madill, OK, with Bro. Lyndol Adams and Mike Williamson officiating and directing. Services are under the care of Alexander Gray Crematory in Ringling.
John was born August 4, 1951 in Peoria City, Illinois to the late Mr. Charles Vernon Cox and Mrs. Geraldine Lydia (Stortz) Cox. He peacefully departed this life Friday, May 12, 2023 at his home at Buncombe Creek near Lake Texoma.
John attended and graduated High School in Buffalo, OK. After graduation he joined the United States Army, serving for 3 years in numerous places but spent most of that time in Germany. John went on to further his education at Okmulgee Tech where he studied to be a draftsman. He also obtained a Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma State University. John went to work for T.D. Williamson at Tulsa, working as a Tool Supervisor, where he continued his employment for 36 years, eventually retiring from there. John married the former Ms. Lee Ann Welch on June 20, 2001 at Wynnewood. After John’s retirement, the couple made their home at Lake Texoma where John enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and playing golf. He was a wonderful husband and Lee Ann loved him dearly.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Geraldine Cox; a brother; John’s foster parents, Everett and Jewelle Lake and a foster brother, Walter Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Cox of the home; sons, Matthew Cox and Justin Cox; foster brothers, Kenny Lake and wife Jane of Edmond and Wayne Lake and wife Francis of Ardmore; bonus sons, Michael Williamson and wife Becky of Loco and Jeremy Williamson and wife Mary of Florida; grandchildren, Jayce Cox, Justin Cox Jr., Blake Williamson, and Bailey Williamson and wife Hannah; great grandchildren, Lily Williamson, Thomas Williamson, and Samuel Williamson; numerous other family and a host of friends.
