John Thiele Curtis III

Wilson - Funeral Services for John Thiele Curtis III, 58 of Gainesville, TX are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating.  Interment will follow at Bomar Point Cemetery.  

John was born on March 8, 1966 in Ardmore, OK to Mr. John Thiele Curtis, Jr. and Mrs. Kathryn Marie (Tucker) Freeman.  He departed from this life on August 27, 2024 at his home in Gainesville, TX. 

John was raised in Edmond, OK on Papa Thiele's farm attending and graduating from Edmond High School in 1984.  He had worked in various jobs before he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1987, where he was honorably discharged in 1991. John had worked for Rodman Excavation for many years before he began his career as a contract welder in 2001. John was blessed as a father having two boys he loved, Thiele and Luke and soon after was an amazing papa to Little John AKA "L.J." - "Stink Butt".  He loved fishing, hunting, and always loved and took pride in showing his boys how to fish and hunt and was really looking forward to doing the same with his grandson, Stink butt just as Papa Thiele did with him.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Kathryn Freeman on May 11, 2023. 

John is survived by his sons, John Thiele Curtis IV and his wife Jhaden Jones of Sadler, TX and Luke Curtis of Noble, OK; grandson, John Thiele Curtis V; sister, Shelly VanHouten and husband Tim of Big Fork, MT; several nieces, nephews, and by a host of other family and friends. 

Pallbearers will be Cardell Miles, Zach Steelman, David Newsom, Brent Morse, Thomas Roberts, Dylan Thompson, Brian Rauch, and Ethan Blankenship.
