Velma- Funeral services for Mr. Joe Wayne Hardy, 66, are scheduled for 10 am Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Velma United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Lusnia officiating. Interment will follow at the New Velma Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.

Joe was born January 8, 1943 in Center, Texas to the late Mr. Jewel Wayne Hardy and Mrs. Betty Jo (Ceal) Hardy. He passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009 in Duncan.

Joe was raised in Center, Texas. When he was old enough to go to work he moved to Arizona working as a carpenter building homes all over Arizona for 11 years. When the construction industry slowed down in Arizona he moved back to Texas working construction and carpentry jobs. He then moved to Oklahoma to work in the oilfields, a job he done until his retirement. Joe enjoyed playing pool.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Betty Jo Hardy, a Brother, Alfred Jacks, Sisters, Cleo Burg and Beatrice Rogers.

Survivors include his wife Gwen Davis of the home in Velma, Step-Daughter, Janette Wright and husband Richard of Velma, Brother, Russell Jacks and wife Lena of Newton, TX, Sisters, Mary Bailey and husband Denzil of Mangum, Katherine Claburn and husband Jerry of Lindsay, Betty Williams of Duncan and Erma Sagely and husband Adrian of Lindsay, 3 grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
