Ringling - Home Going services for Mr. Joe Martin Roberts, 73, of Loco are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Rollins Cemetery near Mannsville, OK. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
Joe was born on Oct. 10, 1948 at Duncan to the late Mr. Billy Joe Roberts and Mrs. Mariann Jeann (Buben) Roberts. He went to his heavenly home Wed. March 16, 2022 at a healthcare facility in Duncan.
Joe was raised at Duncan where he graduated from high school in 1966. He then attended college at Murray State in Tishomingo, majoring in Ag business. Joe married the former Barbara Jean Stowers on Jan. 12, 1968 at Gainesville, TX. Thereafter they attended college at Panhandle State with his friend Ronnie Austin, before moving back to this area.
Joe worked within metal fabrication most all of his working years. He built horse trailers for WW before establishing Joe Roberts Welding in Ringling in the late 70's. There Joe built thousands of portable roping arenas, gates and panels that reached all of 50 states, as well as Canada and Japan. Joe Roberts panels and arenas, quickly grew and is still known as the best built panel around.
Joe was a true Christian and a man of great faith. He served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Ringling for many years. He was the first to help anyone in need and was a great leader for his family and employees. Joe had also served on the Ringling School Board for 17 years and his younger days enjoyed rodeo, roping and riding rough stock with the Little Britches Association.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, Bill and Jean Roberts; infant sister, Mary Jean and most recently a daughter, Wendy Chamberlain on Nov. 20, 2021.
Survivors include his loving wife Barbara of the home; daughter, Marian McMahan and husband Greg of Tulsa; brother, Richard Roberts and wife Dorothy of Wichita Falls, TX and Tony Roberts of Loco; grandchildren, Burke Berry and wife Hillary of Ringling, Ace McMahan and wife Kylie and Racie McMahan- Dighton and husband Joe, all of Yukon; great grandchildren, Penelope and Isabella Berry; son in law, Steve Chamberlain of Ringling; numerous other family, church family and friends.
Casket Bearers are Lyndal Van Buskirk, Dwaine Farris, Larry Thompson, Gary Thompson, Brent Berry, Randy Stowers and Greg McMahan.
Honorary bearers are Ronnie Austin, Larry Snell, Mike Pollock, Bobby Shilling, Jerry Wallace, John Bortz, Sonny Morriss, and all the current and past employees of Joe Roberts Welding.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
