Lone Grove - Services for Mr. Joe Marion Denney, 79, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday May 23, 2019 at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Lone Grove with Bro,. David Gardner officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Joe was born on Nov. 20, 1939 at Lone Grove, OK to the late Mr. Guy Denney and Mrs. Claira Ellen (Talley) Denney. He departed this life on Monday, May 20, 2019 at his home in Lone Grove.

Joe was raised in Lone Grove graduating from Lone Grove High School in 1958. He married the former Ms. Velda Lee West July 27, 1958 at Marietta. They primarily have always lived within the Lone Grove area. Joe worked within the Tire Building Dept. for Uniroyal and later Michelin for 22 years. When he retired he became a full time rancher and farmer. They enjoyed working pecans together and running cattle on their family farm. He and Velda took many trips together traveling. Joe always loved pond fishing, and bird hunting quail and pheasant, taking several trips in Kansas, Nebraska and North Dakota. Joe enjoyed attending New Hope Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. David Gardner where he had taught the Adult Sunday School Class and also served as a song leader, and Church Board member. He also served on the Lone Grove School Board for several years.

Preceding him in death is his Parents; and a sister Doris Clinton.

Survivors include his loving wife Velda of the home; son, Russell Wayne Denney and wife Gayle; Daughters, Terri Lee Hamilton and husband Bill and Traci Jo Pierce and husband Steve; sisters, Joyce Mullins and husband Junior and Melba Hamilton and husband Doyle; grandchildren, Brandon Storts and wife Beth, Joseph Denney and wife Katie, Milo Johnston and Neisha Crane and Weston Pierce; great grandchildren, Hannah, Levi, Claira and Paisley; numerous other family and friends.
