Milo - Memorial services for Mr. Joe Eldon Croskell, 86, of Ardmore are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. January 18, 2017 at the Milo Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Young Cemetery in Gene Autry. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Joe was born March 16, 1930 at Berwyn, OK to the late Mr. Henry H. "Mike" Croskell, Jr. and Mrs. Kinace (Garner) Croskell. He departed this life peacefully at his home on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017.
Joe was raised in Ardmore attending school at Jefferson. He joined the United States Army and served honorably during WWII and the Korean War as part of the 1st Calvary division working in headquarters, being stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He also served as the Troop Armorer and always stated the best gun they had was the BAR 50 caliber. Joe served General Woodruff as a Quarter Master during his stay.
Joe married the former Jackie Dean Black on March 9, 1967 at Gainesville, TX They made their home within the Ardmore area. Joe worked in the Oilfield at several places and was lastly employed for Roberson Drilling as the Drilling Supervisor. He also owned and operated the Rendezvous Night Club for several years. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed rodeoing. He was a contestant at just about every event and even served as the Rodeo Clown. Joe was a member of the Ardmore Masonic Lodge.
Preceding him in death is his Parents; wife Jackie on August 10, 2016; stepson, Jay Virgil Sargent and a brother, Doug Croskell.
Survivors include his daughters, Jolyn Baldwin and husband Steve of Edmond, Leawyn Hampton of Oklahoma City, Patricia Jennings and husband Joe of Ratliff City and Pamela Beth Bryant of Ardmore; son, Gene Eldon Croskell and Angel of Ardmore; daughter in law, Karen Sargent of Ardmore; special daughter, Diann Sargent of Ardmore; 14 grandchildren and one on the way and 9 great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore or Ideal Home Health and Hospice.
