Petersburg- Graveside Services are scheduled for Mrs. Joan Joyce (Throckmorton) Eakin), 83, of Petersburg for 11:00 am Friday, June 12, 2009 at Petersburg Cemetery , 16 miles south of Ringling on State Hwy. 89, with Rev. Carolyn Higdon officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.

Joan was born April 1, 1926 in Capron, OK to the late Mr. Tom B. and Mrs. Ella Mae (Guinnup) Throckmorton. She departed this life Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Ardmore.

She was raised in Capron, attending school there and was very active in 4H. She received a 4H National Championship Award for her excelled skill in Sewing. She then attended college at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater before marrying the late Mr. Wayne Anderson Eakin in Capron on August 2, 1947. They made their home in Cherokee, OK, for many years until Wayne’s retirement, when they moved to Petersburg. Wayne passed away on April 13, 1991.

In addition to her husband, also preceding her in death is her Parents, and Siblings, Gerald Throckmorton, Leona Williams, Francis Mantz, Madie Crutchfield and Bill Throckmorton, and a special sister in law JoAnne (Eakin) Throckmorton

Survivors include a Son, William W. Eakin, and wife Carole of Waurika, daughter, Patricia A. Eakin of Tahlequah, 1 grandson, Anthony Zanetti of Reno, NV, 2 granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughter, 1 brother Tommy Clay Throckmorton and wife Marilyn of Moore, Sister in law, Lucy Throckmorton of Alva, OK, Brother in law, Jim Wheelbarger of Cashion, OK. Many nieces and nephews, and great and great great nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Courtney Methodist Church.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday Evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
