Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy “Jim” Herbert Young, 77, of Bedford, TX are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Alexander Gray Funeral home Chapel of Wilson with his son Tim Young officiating. Interment will follow at Simon Cemetery with military honors provided by the Stephens County honor Guard team.

Jim was born on Aug. 15, 1945 at Ft. Worth, TX to the late Mr. Roy Don Young and Mrs. Katherine E. (Leach) Young. He departed this life on Wed. July 19, 2023 at his home in Bedford, TX.

Jim was raised at Handley, TX attending school at Eastern Hills High. He volunteered  into the US Army , serving honorably  for 5 years as a Sergeant specializing in Artillery. During his military service,  he was stationed at Ft. Sill, Lawton, OK, he met on a blind date, and soonafter married the former Sharon Faye Russell on Jan. 30, 1970 at the Rubottom Baptist  Church. They made their home in Bedford, TX  where they resided the last 50 years.

Jim was employed for Xerox for over 44 years, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed hunting in his early years and was always a being outdoorsman. He was a member of  the Woodland Heights Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his wife Sharon- Jan. 26, 2009; parents, Roy and Katherine Young; sisters in law, Linda Lawson,  Martha Greer and Sharon Young; and brother in law, James Greer.

Survivors include his beloved sons, Jimmy Young  and wife Kristine of Fort Worth, TX and Tim Young and wife Tammy  of Magnolia, TX ; sister Jane Skinner and husband Ron of Whitehouse, TX; brother, Jerry Young of Arlington, TX; 5 grandchildren, Garrett, Travis, Clayton, Thad and Tye; sister in law, Georgia Holland and husband Jerry of Marietta; brothers in law, Bill Russell and Joe Russell, both of Leon; numerous nieces, nephews and other family. 

Pallbearers will be Garrett Young, Travis Young, Clayton Young, Thad Young,  Jerry Lawson, Chad Holland, Willie Russell and Chancey Greer.

Honorary Bearer is  Randy Skinner. 

Family visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
