A celebration of life for Jimmy Dale Patrick, 82, of Wilson, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 11:00 am at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, with Gary Labeth officiating. Interment will be in Bomar Point Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Jim was born July 11, 1931, at St. Louis, Oklahoma, to Leonard Lee Patrick and Ethel (Price) Patrick. He passed from this life August 2, 2013, at his home in Wilson.
Jim was raised during the Oklahoma Oil Boom. As a small child, his family moved to Kilgore, TX for a short time before moving to Dillard, Ok in 1937 where Jim attended elementary school in Wilson. In 1944 the family moved to Rotan, Texas. Jim attended high school there but was unable to graduate due to an illness. In 1948 Jim moved back to Dillard, OK.
On June 22, 1957 Jim married Martha DeLano , they raised three children in Wilson and divorced in 1983.
Jim worked at numerous jobs during his lifetime, even working at a “fillin’ station” in California for a while. He would often talk of fueling the cars of the actors and actresses from Hollywood. After returning to Oklahoma, Jim worked as a cameraman for KVSO-TV in Ardmore and KTEN-TV in Amarillo, Texas. He ran the Skelly Station and later owned and operated the Deep Rock Station in Wilson. He ran the Wilson Co-op and worked as a carpenter and an oilfield pumper. He also served as mayor of Wilson, as well as on the city council. Jim was a proud member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and served as chief.
From an early age, Jim had a true passion for cars, forming many friendships with those who shared his passion.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and two of his brothers, Charles Lee and Donal Ray.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Nath, Ardmore, and Paula Palmer and fiancé Mike Wyatt, Wilson; son Mike Patrick and wife Sheresa, Duncan; Martha Patrick, mother of his children, Healdton; brother, Bennie “Sparky” Patrick, Wilson; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Grandchildren include Jessica Fielding and husband John, Ardmore; Jennifer Nath, Waco, Texas; Jonathan Patrick, Norman; Brittney Beck and husband Josh, Wilson; Hayley Nath, Edmond; Sarah Patrick, Norman; Matthew Patrick, Duncan; and Nathan Wyatt, Wilson. Great Granddaughter, Kadie Beck.
Pallbearers are Bennie Patrick, Jr., Roy Patrick, Mike Wyatt, Jonathan Patrick, Matthew Patrick, Ronnie Palmer, Josh Beck, and John Fielding.
The family request donations be made in Jim’s name to the Wilson or Dillard Volunteer Fire Departments.
Family Visitations will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 6 to 8 pm at Alexander Funeral home of Wilson.
