Fox – Home going services for Mr. Jimmie “Jim” Ray Griffin, 68, of Alpers, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Milo Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at the Pooleville Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Jim was born April 6, 1955, at Ardmore to the late Mr. Charles Edwin Griffin and Mrs. Pansy LaRue (Dillon) Griffin. He went to his heavenly home Sunday morning June 4, 2023, at his residence in Alpers.
Jim was raised at Fox where he graduated from High School in 1973. Then he immediately began working the oilfield, operating heavy equipment and driving trucks. He married the former Ms. Sherry McCarty on Jan. 2, 1987, at the Elmore City Church of Christ.
Jim and Sherry have always made their home in Alpers, near Hennepin, where Jim would state that he served the community as being the local street sweeper. He was employed by Jimmy Rex Chatham for over 30 years running equipment and had also farmed and ranched all of his life. He enjoyed team roping and was a member of the Milo Baptist Church, where he most recently was baptized.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Brent. .
Survivors include his loving wife, Sherry Renee Griffin of the home; daughter, Tiffany Summer Griffin of Duncan; grandchildren, Cydney, Madison and JaKoby; two great grandchildren; sister, Carol Harris and husband Travis of Ardmore; brother, Jon Griffin and wife Sandy of Pooleville. Numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Casket bearers are Jimmy Rex Chatham, Cody “Wahoo” Norman, Greg Dollar, John Sparks, Matt Harris and Lance Wheelock.
Honorary bearers are David Warren, Terry Hale, Kevin Warren and Doak Landers.
Family visitations will be from 5 to 7pm Wednesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
