Wilson – Funeral Services for Jimmie “Jim” Dale Barnes, 83 of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Assembly of God Church in Wilson with Rev. Jim McGaughy officiating and nephew Darwin Allen assisting. Interment will follow to Bomar Point Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.


Jim was born July 19, 1939 in Simon, OK to the late Mr. Ira Martin Barnes and Mrs. Elva (Hodges) Barnes. He departed from this life peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in Sherman, TX.


Jim was raised in Simon where he worked in the peanut fields and attended school there until the 8th grade. He graduated from Wilson High School. He married the love of his life, Mrs. Pearlene Dowdy on August 27, 1960 in Wilson and together they made their home here where they raised their 4 children.   Jim started working for Jim Herrell as a roustabout which started his career in the oilfield and even at one point, he owned and operated Barnes Construction. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and he loved gardening, listening to music, and watching westerns but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Jim would sing to his sweetie every morning and tell her throughout the day how much he loved her. He had served 20 years on the Wilson Fire Department and at one time as the Fire Chief. Jim had also served on the Wilson City Council and Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.


Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Alma and JW Carlile and Almeta and Wilton Allen and son in law, Wayne Barnett.


Jim is survived by his sweetie, Pearlene of the home; children, Melanie Barnett, Keith Barnes and wife Melissa, Alan Barnes and wife Jodi all of Wilson and Amanda Cicio and husband Chris of Durant; grandchildren, Ashley Morse and husband Cody, Sean Barnes, Jacob Barnes, Katy Barnes, Alysha Clift and husband Kent, Hailey Cicio and Connor Cicio; nephews, Darwin Allen and wife Brenda and WM Carlile and wife Cora; niece, Yvetta Carlile, Diesta and Jackie Harris, Mollie and Tony Trent and Cindy and Wayne Woodrum; brothers in law, Wayne Dowdy and Donald and Kitty Dowdy; and by a host of other family and friends.


Pallbearers will be Johnny Epley, Sean Barnes, Jerry Hix, Cody Morse, Kent Clift, Ron Dean Cunningham, Jacob Barnes and Connor Cicio.


Honorary bearers will be Ashley Morse, Katy Barnes, Alysha Clift, and Hailey Cicio.


Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
