Jewel Thornburg

Ringling- Funeral Services for Mrs. Jewel (Humphrey) Thornburg, 89, of Cornish are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday January 12, 2010 at The Church on the Rock with Pastor Joe Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Jewel was born February 10, 1920 in Pattonville, TX to the late Mr. Phillip Humphrey and Mrs. Ollie (Merritt) Humphrey. She departed from this life Saturday, January 9, 2010 at a healthcare facility in Ardmore.

Jewel was raised in Pattonville, TX graduating school there. She and Mr. Kenneth (Fuzz) Thornburg were married October 14, 1944. To this union came 9 children, Charles, Junie Kay, Judy Ann, Roger, Rita, Edna, Kenny, Linda Sue, and Ronnie. She was a loving and strong overcoming woman. She once said “The only thing I ever tried to do right was being a good Mother and Wife”. Fuzz preceded her in death on December 6, 1991.

Also preceding her in death is her Parents, Brother, Sonny Humphrey, Sister, Margaret, Brother, Bobby Humphrey, Sons, Roger Dale, and Charles Wayne.

Survivors include Daughters, Junie Kay McCartney , Judy Evans and husband Leonard and Rita Eakins all of Ringling, Edna Hockersmith and husband Jimmy of Lone Grove, and Linda Sue Thornburg and Tim Stewart of Healdton. Sons, Kenny Thornburg, and wife Shirley of Healdton and Ronnie Thornburg of Ringling. 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Numerous other nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Casket Bearers will be Larry Bohannon, Kenneth McCartney, Stephen Brumley, Creed Parker, Jeremy Sanner and John Lee Eakins.

Honorary Bearers will be Jennifer Eakins and Tim Stewart.

Family visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
