Courtney - Graveside Services for Mr. Jessie Bradford, 69, of Courtney are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 at Dixie Cemetery north of Ringling with Chaplain Matt Benedick officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Mr. Jessie Bradford was born on February 26, 1947 at Ringling, to the late Mr. Charles Cephus Bradford and Mrs. Ima (Abshire) Bradford. He peacefully departed this life on Friday morning May 13, 2016 at his home in Courtney.
Jessie was raised at Ringling, attending school there, graduating High School while serving in the Army. He joined the United States Army in 1963 and then later cross trained with the United States Air force, serving honorably for a total of 14 years. He was the recipient of the Silver Star and cross trained in many capacities from para trooping to construction. Then he attended Oklahoma Missionary Baptist Seminary where he studied to become a Baptist Minister. Jessie was placed into the Lords service at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ringling in 1979.
Jessie married the former Katherine Barr on June 26 of 1991 at Ft. Smith, AR. They resided in Poteau OK where they owned and operated Bradford Saddle and Custom Leather before moving back to Ringling in 1998. They made their home in Courtney in 1999 and mostly were employed by doing over the road trucking together. Jessie primarily worked most of his years as a truck-driver as owner operator or as a driver.
Jessie always enjoyed working but loved to go fishing and camping. He enjoyed golfing never having the time and also liked to do leatherwork. His work ethic was strong and skilled. He was a proud member of the Healdton Masonic Lodge # 23 A.F. & A.M. which was a turning point in his life that changed him. He took it to heart and he did his very best to excel at it. He served in every capacity except the Worshipful Master before becoming too ill to continue. He enjoyed his participation in the Masonic Lodge.
Preceding him in death are his Parents; and a brother - Philip Dean " Butch" Bradford.
Survivors include his wife Katherine of the home; daughter, Tina of Washington; sons, Michael of Mississippi, Kyle of Mississippi, and Shane of Louisiana; 3 sisters, Janice Adams and husband Virgil of Velma, Sandi Sullivan and husband Steve of Blanchard and Pamela Bradford White and late husband Allen White of Ringling; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
