Wilson - Graveside inurnment services for Mr. Jerry Wayne Allen, 76, of Wilson are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson with Rev. Edward Wise officiating.Cremation services are under the care of Alexander Gray Crematory.
Jerry was born on February 22, 1943 in Ardmore to the late Mr. Elmer Allen and Mrs. Margaret Estell (Ashley) Allen. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at his home in Wilson.
Jerry was raised in Wilson graduating from Wilson High School in 1961. For a short while, he was employed with BS&B at Gene Autry before joining the United States Air Force. After joining the U.S. Air Force he served two tours in Vietnam as a clerk. He was honorably discharged on December 11, 1967 and returned back to this area where he worked in the Oilfield, inland and offshore drilling.
Jerry loved being in the woods, spending a great deal of his time there reading his favorite westerns. He enjoyed working with all the Gray family south of Wilson, helping farm peanuts and completing other farm duties. He was a great sketcher and an accomplished wood carver. He took pride in the details of his work. Jerry was a member of the Rexroat Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sister, JoAnn "Kaye" Brown , March 18, 2015, and grand nephew, Michael Dakota Robinson.
Survivors include his brother in law, Jack C. Brown of Ardmore; niece, Kelli Neuman and husband Alan of Bakersfield, CA, a nephew, Scott Brown and Lita Reyes of Brisbane, CA, and Sherry Carlile, a friend who is like family, numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Lavon Hicks, Danny Gray, Harold Dean Gray, the late Butch Ralls, Barry Fitzsimmons, Wyatt Dubose, Charles Alexander, and Bill Mitchell.
