Memorial Services for Mr. Jerry Hudgens, 69, of Healdton are scheduled for 10:30 AM Wed. Nov. 13, 2013 at Shell Street Church of Christ with Danny Huntsman officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory.
Jerry entered into this life February 18, 1944 at Madill, OK to the late Mr. John Herbert Hudgens and Mrs. Carrie Anna (Gaither) Hudgens. He departed from this life Sunday Nov. 10, 2013 at his home north of Healdton.
Jerry was raised at Madill attending school there. He graduated from Madill High School in 1962 and then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. In college he met the former Ms. Barbara Jo Stewart and they were united in marriage on March 2, 1963 at her Parents house in Healdton.
Jerry became employed in the Oilfield and worked most of those years as a Mud Engineer and Fluid Technician. They resided at several communities following his work in the Oilfield. In the mid 1980’s, Jerry returned to College at the University of Texas of Tyler, TX and finished his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. After his career in the Oilfield he became a very accomplished high school Math teacher, being named in Who’s Who Among Americans two years, 1998 and 2002. He also owned and operated his own security firm called ASAP security of Tyler, TX. He and Barbara moved back to this area in 2012 and thereafter attended the Shell Street Church of Christ. Jerry loved the outdoors. He enjoyed shooting guns, fishing and boating, but most of all enjoyed spending precious time with his family.
Preceding him in death are his Parents; Grandson Bradley Kneberg; Brothers in law, Harley Stewart and Tom Ables; Nephew Joe Dale Stewart and niece Cheryl Thomas.
Survivors include his loving wife Barbara of the home; Daughters, Deedra Woody and husband Rodney of Healdton and Misty Hudgens of the home; Sister, Anna Lee Ables of Tyler; Brother, Herb Hudgens and wife Kathy of Ft. Worth; 3 Grandchildren, Jessica and husband Kyle, Samantha and husband Travis and Damon; Great Grandchildren, Savannah, Bobby and Mackenzie; Parents in law, Joe and Jurlie Stewart of Healdton; Other family, Patricia Stewart, Robert and Jeannette Stewart, Diana and Bob Dickerson and Debbie and Jim Rapier; Numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Honorary Bearers are Herb Hudgens, Jim Rapier, Robert Stewart, Bob Dickerson, Damon Woody and Steve Hudgens.
