Ringling - Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry Allen Hill, 71 of Ringling, is scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, April 5th, 2012 at the Ringling United Methodist Church with Rev. Alex Costea officiating and Son –Justin Hill providing the Eulogy. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Jerry was born January 5, 1941 to the late Mr. Bill Hill and Mrs. Carlene (Copas) Hill. He departed this life Friday, March 30, 2012 at Ardmore, OK.
Jerry was raised in Enid and Phoenix, AZ. He married the former Ms. Judith Goodnight on August 26, 1961 at Enid. He and Judy lived most of their working years at Phoenix where Jerry was a Zanjero, an irrigational water master, for the Salt River Project.
Jerry was a very talented and accomplished Artist. He loved to paint and create new things. He and Judy self constructed all the homes they have lived in. They also built a 1 room church in Ashfork, AZ. Jerry served as the pastor for 2 years before donating it to the community and it is still open today as a nondenominational church.
Jerry served in many capacities within the communities he resided in. He was president of the Tolleson Arizona School Board for 10 years. He was always very active in the Ringling United Methodist Church, always helping with all the building projects, and kids club and many other activities.
Preceding him in death is his father, Bill, Mother, Mary Frances Hill and Father in Law Frank Goodnight.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy of the home; Daughter, Cynthia Nelson and husband Tony of Lake Arrowhead, CA; Son, Justin Hill and wife Lynette of Goodyear, AZ; Sister, Judy Scott and husband Jamie Don of Ringling; Brothers, Tommy Townsley and wife Sally of Anaheim, CA and Jimmy Hill and wife Diane of Enid; Mother in Law, Lela Goodnight of Enid; 7 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 2 grandsons of which were born this past week. Numerous other family, church family and friends.
Pallbearers are Miguel Renteria, Joe Don Stewart, Bill Stroud, Keith Albin, Harold Jackson, and Jamie Scott.
Honorary Bearers Mike Moore, Harry Goodman, Mike Brooks, Joe McCleskey, Tom Hildebrant, and Tony Nelson.
Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ringing.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ringling Food Bank in care of the Ringling United Methodist Church P.O. Box 247 Ringling, OK 73456.
