James Wesley “J.W.” Carlile


Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. James Wesley “J.W.” Carlile, 86, of Wilson is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed, March 3, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sherry Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow at Simon Cemetery south of Wilson. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.


J.W. was born Feb. 13, 1924 at Pike, OK to the late Mr. Wheeler L. Carlile and Mrs. Bonnie I. (Walker) Carlile. He departed this life Sunday Feb. 28, 2010 at Ardmore.


J.W. was raised south of Wilson attending school at Orr. He married the former Ms. Alma Barnes, August 22, 1942 at the Love & Carter County Line . To this union came a daughter and three sons. She preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1980. He later remarried the former Betty Hodges at Wilson September 26, 1981. She too preceded him in death on September 18, 1996. He then married his present wife, former Mrs. Glenna Bell Jan. 17, 1998 at Bowie, TX.


J.W. worked all of his working years in the Oilfield retiring from Occidental Petroleum Corp. in 1989 as an oilfield pumper. In his retirement he enjoyed writing songs and poetry. He also enjoyed woodworking, and gardening. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Wilson.


In addition to his 1st and 2nd spouse, also preceding him in death is his Parents, 2 Sons, Lavoy and James, brothers, Alvin, Jiggs and Cleatis and a sister, Rachel Cox.


Survivors include Wife Glenna of the home, Daughter, Yvetta King of Healdton, Son W.M. Carlile and wife Cora of Hennessey. 3 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sisters, Lawanda Garrison of Pilot Point, TX, Pearl Hilton and Nancy Cothran and husband Gearld all of Wichita Falls, TX. Brother Bowie Carlile of Leon . Numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.


Casket Bearers will be Jerry Hicks, Terry Hicks, Pete Carlile, Alan Barnes, Keith Barnes, and Don Buck.


Honorary Bearers will be Jim Barnes, Don Wallace, Bowie Carlile, Wilton Allen and Darwin Allen.
