James Ray Smart

Funeral Service with Military Honors for Mr. James Ray Smart, 73 of Ratliff City are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston and Bro. Mike Cox officiating. Interment will follow to Ratliff City Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ratliff City.

James was born January 17, 1945 in San Francisco, CA to the late Mr. L.C. Willard Smart and Mrs. Francis “Maudine” Jackson Smart. He departed from this life on Friday, August 3, 2018 at his home.

James graduated from Fox High School in 1963 enlisting in the Air Force during the Vietnam War on January 8, 1964 serving honorably for 4 years. He married the former Mrs. Jimmie Faye Pierce on November 29, 1965 in Wichita Falls, TX. James was a dedicated employee for Nubs Well Service for the past 37 years and resided most of his life in the Fox area. He enjoyed raising show pigs and going to pig shows with his grandkids. James loved his family especially his kids and grandkids, following the grandkids for many miles to their sporting events. He was a great fisherman and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister in law, Barbara Smart and numerous aunts and uncles.

James is survived by wife, Jimmie Faye of the home; daughters, Terri Honeycutt of the home and Dana Hoggard and husband Sammy of Fox; son, Ray Smart and wife Terrah of Falconhead; grandchildren, Justin Smart and wife Haley of Ratliff City, Kyle Smart and wife Baylee of Ratliff City, Kent Smart and fiancée Staci of Lone Grove, Brent Smart of California, Avery Hoggard of Fox and Maci Kinard of Lone Grove; great grandchildren, Bentley, Cash, Bowen, Oakley, Lucca, Maverick, Major, Malachi and Elijah; brothers, Charlie Smart of Lone Grove, Dennis Smart and wife Suzanne of Oklahoma City; sisters, Mary Ann Chambers and husband Jay of Enid and Pam Evans and husband C.D. of Marietta; special cousin, Sherian Blankenship and husband Larry of Courtney and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Larry Smart, John Hankins, Ricky Stewart, Kerry Blankenship, Tra Milburn and Pinkey Hurley. Honorary pallbearers will be Nub Sullivan, Mike Kirkpatrick, Glen Brown, Carl Stewart, Larry Blankenship, Jim Burton, David Gayanich, Kip Martin and Ernest Franklin.
