James “Jamie” Lynn Monroe

Ardmore – Funeral Services for Mr. James “Jamie” Lynn Monroe, 42, of Ardmore are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at the Trinity Baptist Church of Ardmore with Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery of Ringling. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Jamie was born on September 21, 1973 at Moore to Mr. Billy F. Monroe and Mrs. Betty Jean (Strawn) Monroe. He departed this life Sat. Nov. 28, 2015 at Mercy Hospital of Ardmore.

Jamie was raised at Graham, transferring to Wilson Schools when he was a freshman. He was an exceptional baseball player being named the Ardmoreite baseball player of the year. He graduated from Elmer High School south of Altus in 1991. There after he returned to this area where he has remained a resident of Ardmore.

Jamie worked as a cook at several short order business in Ardmore. He enjoyed drawing and fishing. He was an avid OU and Steelers fan. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation and the held his church membership at the Trinity Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Fred and Mae Strawn and Roscoe and Hattie Monroe; and infant brother, Derek.

Survivors include his Parents, Bill and Betty Monroe of Ardmore; children, Paden, Seth, Abigail, Jamison and Jraven; sister, Michelle Monroe of Ardmore; aunts and uncles, Roy and Linda Hunziker of Wilson, Calvin and Lawana Monroe of Sterling and Becky Strawn of Oklahoma City; numerous other family and friends.

Casket bearers are Roy Hunziker, Brian Hunziker, Johnnie Hunziker, Dennis Tolbert, Antron Monroe, Steve Messenger and Josh Tolbert.

Honorary bearers are Van Monroe, Calvin Monroe, Michael Haggard, Jamie Linn and all of his Sunday School class members of the Trinity Baptist Church.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Monday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson
