James "Jake" Keith Whatley

Wilson- Funeral Services for Mr. James "Jake" Keith Whatley, 64 of Lone Grove , are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Assembly of God Church of Wilson with Rev. Keith Kinnamon officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


Mr. James "Jake" Keith Whatley was born September 9, 1952 at Ardmore to Mr. Aubrey Loyce Whatley and Mrs. Annie Elizabeth (Croan) Whatley. He departed this life Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.


Jake was raised in Wilson where he attended school, graduating from High School in 1971. During his school years, he was an excellent football player, wearing jersey #72. Jake was employed as a roughneck and worked in steel with his father before becoming employed by the Refinery of Ardmore in 1975. He worked within the maintenance department as a RMW, retiring in 2010. Jake married the former Ms. Dottie Ammons in 1972 and to this union they were blessed with two children, Jennifer and Brad. Later in life Jake married the former Ms. Mildred Kinnamon on January 15, 1981 at Ardmore. They enjoyed many wonderful years together riding motorcycles, and playing music with their friends. Jake was always a people pleaser, making time for everyone. He loved to dance, loved to cook at gatherings, but his most valued time was spent with his family.


Preceding him in death are his father, Aubrey on May 21, 2001; brothers, Johnny Bruce Whatley, on July 5, 1999, and Aubrey Loyce "Junior" Whatley on August 10, 2014.


Jake is survived by his wife Mildred Whatley of the home; children, Tammy Spraggins and husband Greg of Lone Grove, Becky Woerz and husband Ronald of Ardmore, Dana Benson and husband Chris of Lone Grove, Jennifer Stearns and husband Jeff of Wilson, Ronnie Whatley and wife Alicia of Lone Grove, Brad Whatley and wife Frankie of Wilson, and Jonathan Gardner of the home; mother, Elizabeth Whatley of wilson; sister, Jane Butler and husband Dale of Ringling; brothers, Jarvis Whatley and wife Tanya and Jeff Whatley and wife Robin all of Wilson; sister-in-law, Kay Whatley of Ringling; 12 grandchildren, James, Kelli, Jessica, Josh, Ryan, Joey, Cody, Payton, Lindsey, Cole, Michael, and Daniel; 9 great grandchildren, Faith, Hope, Maddex, Addalie, Hannah, Abby, Brantly, Bentley, and Beckett; numerous other family and friends.


Casket Bearers will be Ronnie Whatley, Josh Duncan, Joey Stearns, Steve "Bird" Price, Danny Johnson, Frankie Cleghorn, Charlie Ammons, and Ryan Woerz.


Honorary bearers are Leslie Price,Jonathan Gardner, Troy Dodd, James Copeland, Eddie Scott, James "Wildman" Stevenson, Kevin "Tweety" Price, Doyal Gaither, Albert Topetchy, Jimmy Davis, Larry Smith, Greg Spraggins, Ronald Woerz, Chris Benson, Jeff Stearns, Butch and Debbie Butler, James Spraggins, David Herbal, Mac Paul, Roy Ashley, Dennis Horn and Mike Sudderth.


Family visitation is scheduled from 5-7PM Wednesday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
