James Douglas Slawson

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. James "Jim" Douglas Slawson , 62, of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. June 26, 2019 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson. Everyone is encouraged to ride their motorcycle to pay tribute to James for his last ride to the cemetery.

James was born on October 24, 1956 at Fresno, CA to the late Mr. Roy James Slawson and Mrs. Mona Katherine (Jordan) Slawson. He departed this life on Thursday June 20, 2019 at his home in Healdton.

James was raised in Chickasha, moving to this area in the early 70's. He and the former Nina Marie Knight were united in marriage on January 17, 1975 at the First United Methodist Church of Wilson. During this time, James joined the United States Army, but was medically discharged due to a knee injury during basic training. He returned to this area and worked as a welder and mechanic for several years within the Oil field.

James loved building hot rods and motorcycles. He had a weakness for loud pipes and chrome. His creations were always a masterpiece that everyone cherished. Currently, James was employed as a mechanic for NGL Energy of Woodward. Since the passing of his wife Nina on June 14, 2017, James continued to live at Woodward, moving to Healdton just recently to be with his family.

In addition to his wife also preceding him in death was his parents and son in law, Jason Bethea.

Survivors include his daughter, Renee Bethea and Kevin Butcher of Sand Springs; son, Roy James Slawson and wife Rachael of Healdton; brothers, Clifford Slawson and wife Becky of Healdton and Roy Lynn Slawson and wife Barbara of Wilson; sister, Kathy Peters and husband Frank of Healdton; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers will be Roy James Slawson, Lane Swearingin, Clifford Slawson, Ronnie Webb, Jason Michael and Paul Knight.

Honorary Bearers are Roy Lynn Slawson, Justin Bethea, Joseph Bethea, James Slawson, Hunter Slawson and Greg Cole.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
