Services for James Dean Thompson, 60, of Ringling, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

James was born October 2, 1963, at Ringling to the late Mr. J. R. Thompson and Mrs. Lois Dean (Whitaker) Thompson. He departed this life Monday, November 27, 2023, at Denton, TX.

James was raised in the Healdton and Fox area, where he attended school, graduating from Fox High School with the class of 1982. He began his working career with his father in the trucking business but worked most of his life as a ranch hand for local ranches, ending his ranching career working for Jack Grace. James married Melody Kroth and to this union they were blessed with a son, James Dean Thompson,II. He joined the Ratliff City Volunteer Fire Department in October of 1992 retiring in 2016. Melody preceded him in death on May 11, 2011. James enjoyed riding motorcycles, going fishing, and hunting.

Also preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Albert Thompson; baby sister, Janice Thompson.

Survivors include his son, James Dean Thompson,II of Healdton; sisters, Leona Stepp of Stillwater, Wanda Long and husband Danny of Wichita Falls, TX, and Linda Beaird and husband Andy of Healdton; brother, Kenneth Thompson and wife Vanita of Loco; 2 grandchildren, Sparrow and Oliver; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Clint Smith, Jack Brown, Paul Brown, Ottis Harris, Eddie Ruth, Bryce Smith.

Family visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling.
