Ringling – Funeral Services for Mr. James Anthony “Thorpe” Shaw, 57, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Brother In Law, Mr. Jeff Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Ft. Sill Casualty Team.

James was born September 28, 1954 at Oklahoma City, OK to the Mr. Albert “Buddy A. Shaw, Jr. and Mrs. Deloris June (Smalley) Shaw. He departed this life Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Ardmore.

James was raised by his Grandmother, Mrs. Flora Shaw, residing in Ringling. He attended school at Ringling graduating from High School there. He was very active in all sports especially football where earned his nickname “Thorpe” from Coach Rick Gandy. He attended college at Murray State studying to be a Teacher and then married the former Ms. Peggy Jean Boles on September 29, 1973 at Zaneis. He joined the United States Army serving in the Armored Tank Division and was honorably discharged in 1975. He and his family returned to this area and he began working for the Lone Star Gas Company, which later became Oklahoma Natural Gas and he retired from there in 2008 as a Senior Technician. James enjoyed playing music with his band and loved to fish with his son Jammy. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and shooting guns.

Preceding him in death is his Father, Buddy Shaw and Grandmother, Flora Shaw.

Survivors include his loving wife Peggy of the home; Daughters, Kim Shaw of Wilson, and Jessica Harrell and husband John of Ardmore; Son, Jammy Shaw of Wilson; Mother, Deloris Roberts of Oklahoma City; Four Grandchildren, Page and Brianne Davoult, Joshua and Jacelyn Harrell; Siblings, Lola Felter and husband Paul, Gloria Hendrix and husband Jeff, Maria Saxton and Husband Allen, Sonja Kutch and husband Bob, Angela Moore and husband Bobby, Janet and husband Bob Hickman, David Smalley and wife Cindy, and Tom and wife Kay West; Nephews Kyle Hacker and Weston Therton. Numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Don Sears, John Harrell, Kyle Hacker, Chris Davoult, Paul Felter, and Dennis Burch.

Honorary Bearers will be Page Davoult, Brianne Davoult, Joshua Harrell, and Jacelyn Harrell.

Memorials may be made to the American Iron Riders for the Children’s Christmas Fund, care of Alexander Funeral Home 1302 7th St. Wilson, OK 73463.
