Jackie Henderson

Oswalt- Celebration of Life Services for Jacqueline "Jackie" (Gray) Henderson, 83, of Ardmore are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at the Oswalt Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Johnny Tynes and Jase Riggs officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


Jackie was born July 27, 1934 at Simon the late Mr. J.B. Gray, Sr. and Mrs. Aleta Pearl (Cox) Gray. She departed this life Wed. morning Sept. 27. 2017 at a healthcare facility in Oklahoma City.


Jackie was raised as a young girl at Simon attending school there. They moved to Auburn, Ca where they lived for a few years before moving back to this area and attending her high school years at Meadowbrook. During her attendance there she was quite the athlete excelling at basketball. Jackie loved telling the stories of her games and their triumphs. She graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1953 and soon after she married Mr. Waite Louis Henderson. She and Louis were united in marriage on August 8, 1953 and made their home initially at EL Paso, TX. He was stationed there serving in the Army. Afterwards, Louis and her followed his oilfield career all over Oklahoma and Texas, settling at Fort Stockton, TX for 20 years.


In 1974 they purchased the store at Turner and moved back home. They owned and operated Louis' Grocery of Turner for many years, enjoying all the kids and faculty of the Turner Schools. Jackie was always a devoted mother and wife and cared for many of her family and friends during their illnesses. After closing the Turner store, they eventually retired and moved to Ardmore. Louis preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2004. Jackie stayed very active with her family and enjoyed dancing occasionally and being with her grandchildren. She was a past member of the Eastman Baptist Church and had been attending the River of Life Church of Wilson.


In addition to her husband, also preceding her in death was her Parents, J.B. and Aleta Gray; brothers, Carol Mac Gray, Cary Lance Gray and most recently J.B. Gray. Jr.


Survivors include her two wonderful children, Cheryl Sanders and husband Warren of Marietta and Paul Henderson and wife Gayle of Fort Stockton, TX; brothers, Randy Gray and Ricky Gray, both of Marietta and Greg Gray and wife Tammy of De Soto, TX; sisters, Celestine Ritter and husband Glen of Ardmore, Patricia Knight and husband Mel of Ponca City, Loretta Stearns and husband Glen of Moore and Linda Gray of Ardmore; grandchildren, Cris Henderson and wife Rebecca, Alyson Stokes and husband Cole, Steffanie Stafford and husband Geoff; great grandchildren, Zane, Carson, Hallie, Jaxee, Lakeyn and Landri; her canine companion named "brother"; numerous other children whom she considered her grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.


The family would like to extend a very special heartfelt thanks to Janet Tynes Marr for her care and love she shown Jackie throughout the past years.


Casket Bearers are Stacey Knight, Casey Eastman, Trey Gray, Chase Gray, Rodney Lang and Jimmy Chance Tynes.

Honorary Bearers are O.L. Gray, Danny Gray, Aaron Bussell, Jimmy Gale Tynes, Brent Gray and Chad Gray.


Family visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home in Wilson.
