J D Deese

March 21, 1922 — June 20, 2018

Ratliff City- Graveside services for Mr. JD Deese of Ratliff City will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday - June 23, 2018 at the Ratliff City Cemetery in Ratliff City with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home in Ratliff City.

J D was born at his parents home in Velma on March 21, 1922 to the late William R. (Bill) Deese and Mrs. Katie (Jump) Deese. He departed this life Wednesday June 20, 2018 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 30 days.

J D was raised in the Velma area and met Velma (Fagg) Deese when his family moved to the Seminole area during the oil boom. They married prior to J D enlisting in the Army. Their only son, William (Bill) Deese, was born while J D was in Europe fighting in WWII. When he returned, they moved to Countyline where he lived until his death. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked in the oil field. After retirement, he was a farmer and cattleman until he was afflicted with a stroke that partially paralyzed his left leg.

J D loved country music and dancing and classic TV western shows and movies. He always had a great sense of humor. When asked about his unusually short name which was not short for anything, he would say that he asked his mother once if they had run out of names.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a half-sister Susie, wife Velma (d. 4.21.14) and son Bill (d. 9.26.2005).

Survivors include two granddaughters, Peggy Giersz of Wauconda, IL (mother to Shawn, Jessica & Nickolas) and Carol Deese of Elmwood Park, IL (mother to Eric) and numerous great-great grandchildren.
