Ringling – Funeral Services for Mr. Ivan Levon Morris, 86, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Gospel Tabernacle Church of Jesus Christ of Ringling with Bro. Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling with Military Burial Honors. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Ivan was born January 7, 1925 at Ringling, OK to the late Mr. Terry Floyd Morris and Mrs. Jessie (Newby) Morris. He departed this life Wed. March 23, 2011 at Wilson.
Ivan was raised in Ringling graduating from Ringling High School in 1942. He joined the United States Army the 17th of August of 1943 at Fort Sill, OK. He was in several battles during WWII, which included 30 missions over Germany aboard a B-17 bomber Airplane as a bubble gunner. Serving in Europe and France, he was in the Battle of Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Northern France. He also served as a clerk typist. He received his honorable discharge on September 27, 1945 at Spokane, WA.
Ivan returned to Ringling after the War, and owned and operated several businesses such as a gas station, a movie theater and a furniture store. He loved playing dominoes and also enjoyed gardening and mowing his yard.
Preceding him in death are his Parents; Son, Frankie – March 2, 1994; Infant Son, Brian; Sisters, Gertie and Zona; Brothers, Buddy, Dana , J.T. and James and 1 other infant brother.
Survivors include his Daughters, Starla Sanner and husband Jimmy Don of Ringling, and Tina Burns of Wilson. Grandchildren, Tyler Brown and husband Michael, Jeremy and Carlee Sanner, Misty and Jason Morris, Kristin Burns and Brooklyn Harper. Great Grandchild, Hunter Brown and other numerous grandchildren. Sister, Dorothy Jackson and husband Loyd of Ringling, Brother, Billy Morris and wife Alpha of Ringling and Sister in Law, Ella Morris of Ringling. Numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Stephen Brumley, Tim Stewart, Joe Jones, Judd Bledsoe, William Bracken and Greg Segroves.
Honorary Bearers are Jeremy Sanner, Michael Brown and Hunter Brown.
Family visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
