Iris Jean Goodson

Iris Jean Goodson, 75 of Ardmore was born on September 28, 1948 in Florida. She departed from this life on June 22, 2024 at her home in Ardmore. Iris made Oklahoma her home in 1971 and soon after met and married her husband of 53 years, Ernest Dale Goodson. They made a life together in Ardmore Oklahoma and raised 3 children. Iris had a passion for cards and was introduced to the game of bridge, which she proclaimed she was “really playing spades for the first year”. Earning her gold and silver points was something she took pride in, and at a rapid speed became a Bridge Master. Later in life she found a group of women who would become her sisterhood, and if you did not find them traveling you would most definitely find them at a card table enjoying themselves and planning their next adventures. Iris was a devoted wife and mother, but the title grandmother was her joy. Each of the grandchildren knew they were her favorite.

Iris was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking. She showed her love through food, and everyone knew they were welcome at the table.

Iris will always be remembered for being generous, kindhearted, thoughtful and a peacemaker.

Iris is preceded in death by her Son: Larry McMilian, Aunt: Irene Lynn, Mother and Father-in-law Marie and Ernest Goodson

Survivors include her loving husband Ernest Dale Goodson, Her children: Daughter: Kelly Burris and husband Brian, Son: Micheal Goodson, Daughter-in-law Darla Goodson and Son: Jerry Dale Goodson. Grandchildren Kylee Keith, Brooks Pearce, Ashely Goodson and Brianna Goodson.

Great-grandchildren Beau Ahrens and Kenna Kieth. She had an extended family that she loved dearly.

Cremation Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
