Irene Marie Rumsey

Ringling - Funeral Services for Mrs. Irene Marie (Choate) Rumsey, 77, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling with Bro. Bobby Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Monday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

In the afternoon of Friday, April 6, 2018, Irene passed away at her home north of Ringling. Irene was 77 years old, being born on October 12, 1940 to the late Mr. William Thomas Choate and Mrs. Beaulah Mae (Loyd) Choate at Orr, OK.

Irene was raised at Orr attending school at Ringling. She graduated highs school at Ringling and soon moved to Oklahoma City. She married Mr. Ronald J. Rumsey on June 21, 1966 at Wichita Falls, TX and they shared 51 years of happy memories together. Irene worked along-side Ronald for many years in the Grocery/ Meat business and mainly served as a stay at home Mother who dedicated herself to her family.

Irene loved to Shop and her weakness was purses and shoes. She was very conservative when she shopped and was always buying something at a bargain price. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and working around and decorating the inside of her house. Her nightly calls with Shirley Choate, Betty Ann Pemberton, and Jean Davis brought many nights of girlish laughter to Irene.

Irene was preceded in death by her mother and father, Beaulah Mae and William Thomas Choate; brothers, Ernest Choate, Nathan Choate, Ollie Choate and Homer Lee Choate; sisters, Alice Wigham, Nettie Switzer, Florence Carmickle and Llue Thurman.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ronald J. Rumsey of the home; son, Rodney Hairell and wife Linda of Grand Prairie, TX; son, Ron Rumsey, Jr. of Arlington, TX; brother, Eugene “Bear” Reynolds and wife Pat of Norvolk, VA; sister in law who was like a sister, Shirley Choate of Tuttle; grandchildren, Nick Hairell, Presley Rumsey and Karli Rumsey of Arlington, TX and Ashlee Hairell of Quinlan, TX, Kylie Rumsey of Arlington, TX; 5 great grandchildren, numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers Terry Choate, Kyle Choate, Cecil Morrison, Ricky Branch, James Baker and Ricky Fowler.

Honorary bearer will be Coy Williams and William "Cricket" Rumsey.
