Iona “Greenroyd” Engelke

Ringling-Graveside Funeral services for Mrs. Iona (Greenroyd) Engelke 82, of Ringling will be 10 AM Monday December 1, 2008 at Dixie Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Morris officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.

Iona “Greenroyd”Engelke was born March 21, 1916 at Alma, OK to Thomas Jefferson Greenroyd and Maudie Urtle (Miller) Greenroyd. She passed away Saturday November 29, 2008 in Wilson, OK.

Iona was raised in Tuttle and Alma and later moved to Ringling. She and Edwin Olvine Engleke were married August 17, 1935 in a double ring ceremony with Edwin’s brother Louis and Iona’s sister Lola in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She has been a resident of this area for several years. Iona worked at the 70 Café in Ringling as a waitress for many years. She always loved being outside, going for walks and working in her flower beds and garden.

Preceding her in death is her Husband Edwin, July 11, 1996 Daughter Yvonne Engelke, March 26, 1943 2 brothers Lestle Greenroyd and J.T. Greenroyd 2 Sisters Lola Engelke and Opal Martin.

Survivors include 2 Sisters Ora Minton of Ardmore Ruth Thomas and husband Leon of New Castle, 1 Brother Gene Greenroyd and wife Mary of Moore, Nephews Jearl Greenroyd and wife Judy of Ringling, Charles Wayne Greenroyd and wife Imogene of Wilson, 5 Nieces Lana Hill and husband Barry of Burns Flat, Sherry Henson and husband Jerry of Ardmore Mary Jo White and husband of Ardmore Shirley Stewart and Wanda Engelke of Ringling, numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Family Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
