Ilene Nugent

Ilene Nugent of Wilson, departed this life on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 98 years, 2 months and 19 days. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 18, 2023, from 6-8 P.M., at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Bellmont Memorial Park in Fresno, CA. Visitation services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Ilene was born on June 15, 1925, in Lincoln, NB to the late Mr. George Stelling and Mrs. Goldie Chaplin.

She was primarily raised in Fresno, CA. Ilene and Mr. Kenneth Nugent were united in marriage on June 20, 1944, in Fresno. They made their home in Fresno most of their lives and raised their family there. Illene devoted most of her working life to her family as a devoted wife and homemaker. Kenneth preceded her in death on March 31, 1988. A few years later in 1992 she made the move to Wilson, OK to live with her daughter Linda and had 33 wonderful years together. Ilene loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and going out to eat. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Zanies Baptist Church years ago.

Ilene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Nugent; stepfather, Emil Bartosch, who she thought of as a dad; son-in-law, Charlie Brooks, Sr.; daughter, Carol Petty; son, Mark Nugent; brothers, Ed and Harold Bartosch; sister; granddaughters, Kim Bryant and Katherine Elizabeth and Beth Petty; bro in law, Max Inabinet; sister and brother-in- law, Lilly and Wendell Allen.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Brooks of Wilson; sisters, Shirley Inabinet and Sharon Swiridoff both of Fresno; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
