Charley was raised at Hoover, Ok and attended school nearby at Harjo, OK. He met the love of his life at Harjo, the former Ms. Berna Dean McVay. They were united in marriage on October 12, 1942 at Shawnee. They shared almost 69 years of marriage together here on earth and will spend eternity together in Heaven someday.

Charley was drafted into the United States Army during WWII and served his country honorably. He worked in Gas Plant construction for several years, moving frequently from town to town until in 1956 when he took a position at the Signal Gas Plant in Fox . There he worked continuously and retired in 1988 which was then named Aminol Oil Company.

Charley truly loved to hunt, fish and spend time at family gatherings. He enjoyed attending all of his grandkids sporting events and livestock shows and was always a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilson. He served as an Usher for many years always greeting everyone at the door with a kind hello. He had many talents and extended mechanical knowledge, but above all was a great loving and caring husband to his wife Berna Dean, and “Daddy” to Gary and Barbara, and “PaPa” to his grandchildren.
