Ringling – Funeral Services for Hubert “Buddy” English 84, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Mike Williams Officiating. Interment will follow at the Keller Cemetery of Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Mr. Hubert Leon “Buddy” English was born May 4, 1930 at Oklahoma City, OK to Mr. James H. English and Mrs. Malinda (McClenahan) English. He passed from this life Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Ardmore Oklahoma Veterans Center.
Buddy was raised in Oklahoma City attending school there. After he graduated High School he volunteered into the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict . He served a total of four years active duty on the U.S.S. Leyte Aircraft Carrier as part of the Fire Rescue Squad. Buddy and the former Ms. Mildred L. Apala were united in marriage on May 10, 1952 at Oklahoma City. He and his brother in law, Kenneth Apala owned and operated "Buddy and Ken’s Service Station" in Oklahoma City for about 10 years. He and Mildred moved from Oklahoma City to Ringling on August of 1973.
Buddy gained employment initially with Spann Chevrolet Dealership of Ardmore and later at Billingsley Ford of Ardmore as a service technician. He always had a great passion for vehicles and working with customers. He retired from Billingsley Ford of Ardmore in 1989 and afterwards enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with his friends and family. He always wanted to have cake and ice cream for everyone's birthday. Buddy always helped other veterans and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
Buddy is preceded in death by his Parents, James and Malinda English; Two Brothers, Jack H. English and Edward F. English.
He is survived by his Wife, Mildred English of the home; Two Sister in laws , Lawana Apala of Ardmore, Gayle Benton of Peidmont and JoAnna English of Cypress, TX; Two Brother in laws, Lemuel Apala JR. and wife, Juanita of Tulsa and Kenneth Apala and wife, Loise of Maud; Niece, Beth Briggs and husband Mike of Little Elm, TX; Special Nephew, Keith Acox of Noble; Special Niece, Denise Allred and husband Robbie, SR. of Midlothian, TX; Favorite Canine Companion , Whiskers; Numerous other Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, and many other Family and Friends.
Pallbearers are Raymond Wright, Wilbur Franklin, Danny Apala, Brett Apala, Robbie Allred, JR., and Steven Allred.
Honorary Bearers are Bill Riddle, Junior Ogle, Keith Acox, Robbie Allred, SR., Lawana Apala, Patrick Stewart and Billy Martin.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30 , Cross Timbers Hospice or Charity of Choice. Please send all donations in care of Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 1067; Ringling, OK 73456.
Family Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling, Oklahoma.
