Sapulpa - Funeral Services for Mr. Herbert Don Tilley, 87 of Sapulpa, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the South Heights Assembly of God Church with Sam Crenshaw officiating and Bobby Warman assisting. Interment services will be 3:30 P.M. at Hewitt Cemetery with David Sanders officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Herbert was born October 6, 1932 in Welty, OK to the late Mr. James William Tilley II, and Mrs. Maggie May Wright. He departed from this life on Monday, February 24, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.
Herbert enlisted in the United States Army serving honorably as a Corporal in the Korean War, with the 31st Infantry Regiment 7th Infantry Division, receiving numerous Medals of Honor, National Defense Service Medal,The United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.. He retired after 29 years with Byron-Jackson Pump Division Borg-Warner Corporation in Tulsa. Herbert really enjoyed ministering, playing his guitar and harmonica, singing and preaching to many people who were in nursing homes. He was faithful to the call of God on his life and at one time was ministering in 13 nursing homes in one month. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Lavonne Whitson; and brothers, James William Tilley III, Charles Lee and Bob Tilley, and Great Grandson, Mason Alan Rogers.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; daughter, Tammy Wilson of Claremore, sons, Herbert Don Tilley II, Mark Tilley of Winchester, and Brent Tilley of Tulsa; sister, Ruby Stevenson of Tulsa,; 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Rogers, and 4 great grand children, Emily, Madison, Maycie and Michael Rogers, and grand puppy Cindy.
