Helga Martha Bramlett

Wilson – Helga Martha Bramlett, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on March 4, 2010. Helga was born on January 30, 1939, in Berlin, Germany to Otto Paul and Martha Emma Rosa Fischer. She and husband Jim, married since 1960, have lived in Henrietta, Texas since 1990.

Helga will be interred at Hewitt Cemetery after a 10; 00 AM service and eulogy on Saturday, March 13th at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, Oklahoma. Rev. Monte Dean of Rexroat (OK) Baptist Church will conduct the service.

In the crucible of World War II Germany, Helga experienced events during the first six years of life that no child should ever have to go through. But enduring circumstances that would have warped and emotionally scarred a lesser person, to the point of rendering them incapable of caring for others, she emerged from the ordeal with an exceptionally loving, extroverted personality that made her a friend to everyone she met. Like Will Rogers, she “never met a person she didn’t like”.

Because of Jim’s career in the U.S. Army, Helga became accustomed to packing and moving quite often but she never let it get her down. On the contrary, she enjoyed the travel required of military families and during his 23 years of service, they lived in not only Germany but Hawaii, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Jim used to say that when they first married, Helga “couldn’t boil water” but during their half-century together, Helga became an accomplished cook, thanks to the tutoring of Jim’s mom and grandma, and others she met during their travels. She was a firm believer in the old adage that “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” and she sure captured Jim’s heart. In fact, Jim quite often said that Helga was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Helga is survived by husband Jim, sons, Richard and Kevin, daughter, Lora, seven grandchildren, sister, Anneliese, brother Reinhard, nieces, Marion and Ilona, and several in-laws. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Pallbearers will be sons Richard and Kevin Bramlett, grandsons Keith, Allen and James Bramlett and close family friend Todd Windahl.

Honorary bearers will be husband Jim, brothers-in-law Richard Kohler and Mike Giddens, late brother-in-law Buster Lucas, and good friends Kenneth Kemp, Doyle Edwards, Pete Vargas, Jerry Cotton and Russell Thompson.

Family visitation will be held from 7-8 pm Friday at the Funeral Home in Wilson.

A book of memories has been established at www.alexanderfuneralhome.org for condolences and remembrances.
