Ringling - A time of remembrance for Mrs. Helen Kay (Allen) Hammons, 82, of Ringling is available at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling. The funeral home will be open from 10:00 am – 4:00 PM Wednesday thru Friday, displaying pictures and having a guestbook available for registration. Flowers and memories may be shared, with family having private memorial services scheduled at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been chosen with Alexander Gray Crematory of Ringling.
Helen was born on June 7, 1941 at Ringling to the late Mr. L.D. Allen and Mrs. Cloma (Thornburg) Allen. She departed this life on Sunday morning June 18, 2023 at a healthcare facility in Pauls Valley.
Helen was a resident of Ringling most of her life being married to Mr. Gary Hammons, who preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2013. Helen was known through Ringling for always having a very well kept yard and clean and tidy house. If you ever visited her home for dinner, you would recall drinking some of the best sweet tea and eating some of the most delicious meals. Helen often found herself cooking for several children throughout her years.
Helen loved her sports, always having some game or competitive sport playing on the television. She loved the Ringling Blue Devils but also valued and followed the Chicago Bulls, Cubs, Atlanta Braves and anything OU and Dallas Cowboys. Helen always took pride in keeping herself very neat and well dressed. Years ago, Helen was a past attendee of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ of Ringling.
In addition to her husband Gary, also preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Berlen and Jerry Allen; grandson, Lance Norton and nephew Marty Allen.
She is survived by her son Dustin Hammons and wife Stephanie of Ringling; daughter, Tammy Rutledge of Ft. Worth, TX; step son, Gary Lynn Hammons of Sherman, TX; Stepmother, Ola Allen of Ringling. Grandchildren, Tyson, Tuff and Titan Hammons, Wes Davis, Misty Norton and Tessa Smith; sisters in law, Avyrl Allen and Donna Butler; brother in law Johnny Hammons and wife Ann; nieces Jamie Trevino and Holly Creeden; nephews, Ty, Trey and Trent Hammons; numerous other family and a multitude of friends.
