Lone Grove – Graveside Services for Mrs. Hazel Flo (Miller) Walton Newcomb, 96 of Lone Grove are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Lone Grove Cemetery with nephew Jim Taliaferro officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Mrs. Hazel Flo (Miller) Walton Newcomb was born July 13, 1916 at Ringling, OK to the late Mr. Hershel Christopher Miller and Mrs. Maude Ann (Blassingame) Miller. She departed this life Friday evening February 15, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.
Hazel was raised at Ringling and attended school at Zaneis. She married Mr. A.L. Walton and to this union came two children, Ann and Allan. She later married Mr. Jack Donald Newcomb on January 26, 1971 at Durant. Hazel worked primarily most of her working years as a Nurse and also owned and operated a restaurant in Healdton. She and Jack travelled extensively in their RV and loved playing fiddle music. Jack preceded her in death on June 3, 2004. She later met the love of her life, Mr. Carl Jackson, when they were both finalizing some business at the funeral home. They enjoyed their time together as companions until his passing in 2012.
She is also preceded in death by her Parents; Brothers, Jerry William Miller, Thomas Benjamin Miller and Hershel Leon Miller; Sisters, Minnie Hortence Woods, Sybil Beatrice Collins, Wayne Delia Ponder and Doris Lois Newman; and Son, Eugene Lawrence “Larry” LaFoy.
Survivors include Children, Ann Lee Walton of Phoenix, AZ and Allan Len Walton and wife Diana of Lake Tapps, WA; 5 Grandchildren, Neeley Durkee, Jessie Walton, Robert Walton, Christopher Philbrick, and Elizabeth Philbrick; Caretaker and friend Margie Rosen and also dear friend, Vivian James. Numerous other relatives and friends.
