Milo – Funeral Services for Mrs. Hazel Earnestine Melton Martin, 85, of Milo is scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Milo Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at the Milo Cemetery in Milo, OK. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Hazel was born March 30, 1925 at Roundup, OK to the late Mr. Lee Port Fogle and Mrs. Ruby Myrtle (Johnson) Fogle. She departed this life Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her home in Milo.
Hazel was raised and attended school at Roundup, OK. She lived most of her life in the Graham and Milo area. She married the late Mr. James William “Joe” Ratliff December 20, 1941 at Milo. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1968. Later, she married the late Mr. Bill Martin July 28, 1998. He also preceded her in death on June 12, 1999.
Hazel was always a very hard working lady. She was employed for several years at Stromberg Carlson at Gene Autry. She was also employed at Graham Public Schools and Healdton Nursing Home as the assistant cook. Always loving to work, she became employed at Burger King in Ardmore at the age of 65, where she worked for 9 years. She always enjoyed being outside and loved to pick up pecans and mow her 2 acre yard.
In addition to her husbands, also preceding her in death are her Parents, 3 Brothers, Horace, Gene and Charles Fogle, and a Great Grandson Josh Hensley.
Survivors include her Daughters, Sue Watkins and husband John T. of Graham, and Jo Ann Hicks and husband Henry of Little Axe, OK. Son, James Ratliff and wife Phyllis of Pruitt City, Step Sons, whom she thought of as her own, Adrain ‘Spud” Melton, Jr. and wife Windy of Milo and Randy Melton of California. Sisters, Teen Stewart and husband Cap of Ardmore, Emma Fanning and husband Bob of Kingston and Monty Smith of Elk City. 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Richard Watkins, Jimmy Watkins, Bob Mumford, John Melton, Steve Armstrong and Levi Armstrong.
Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wed. Evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
