Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Harold Robert “Sonny” Charles, Jr., 64, of Wilson is scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dale Tarp officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Sonny was born May 8, 1947 in Ringling, OK to Mr. Harold Robert Charles, Sr. and Mrs. Pauline (Lance) Charles. He departed this life Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Wilson.

Sonny was raised at Cornish attending school at Ringling, graduating from High School there in 1966. He married the former Ms. Amber N. Hunt March 24, 2000 at DeQueen, AR. They made their home in Wilson raising their daughter Sunnie together.

Sonny had been employed most all of his working years in the Oilfield. He owned and operated H & S Trucking in Wilson for several years and was presently employed as a contract pumper. Sonny had also been employed for Carter County District III for several years. Sonny enjoyed travelling, old cars, motorcycles, camping, and he loved to aggravate. He presently had been attending the Wilson Assembly of God Church in Wilson and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in 1959 at the Gospel Tabernacle of Ringling.

Preceding him in death is his Mother, Pauline Charles and sister, Judy Greenroyd, and a half sister Suzy Meyers.

Survivors include his wife Amber of the Home; Children, Sunnie Nicole Charles of the home, Jason Charles of Wilson, Tammy Parker of Wilson, and Robert Charles of Eufaula; Father, Harold Robert Charles, Sr. of Lone Grove; Siblings, Deanna Kennedy and husband Johnsa of Haltom City, TX, Janice Strader and husband Wayne of Ardmore, Sheila Harbert and husband Buck of Tishomingo; Half Sister, Shirley Goin and husband Don of Edmond; Half Brother, Roy Bartling and wife Monica of Waurika; 8 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Wayne Strader, Dale Vernon, Richard Youngblood, Shane Price, Dale Ott, and Gilbert McCartney.

Honorary Bearers are Pete Carlile, Mark Myers, Michael Myers, Charles Strader, Joe Harbert, Robbie Greenroyd, and Buck Harbert.

Family visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Sunday Afternoon at the Funeral Home in Wilson.
